About Us

Sarah Barton, RMT/Owner

After 8 years of massage practice working in multidisciplinary and home based practices, I have decided to collaborate with other RMTs and open a clinic specializing in Massage Therapy – a true passion of mine.

IMG_03516 of those years have been in the Leslieville/Riverside area of Toronto- my own neighbourhood!  I’m thrilled to now have my permanent practice just minutes from my home.

A 2005 graduate of Centennial College’s 3 year advanced Massage Therapy Diploma program, I have focused my treatments on pre/post natal massage, injury management and rehabilitation, deep tissue and myofascial release & general maintenance of soft tissues.  I believe in personalized treatment planning in order for you to receive the most individualized and focused care.

Working together with your short and long term goals, we’ll devise a course of care to meet your needs and get you on the path to soft tissue wellness.

Having a background in Nursing studies, I understand the correlation between physical and physiological imbalance.  Carrying tension and pain in your soft tissues can have a negative effect on the health of your organs and general well being. Breathing changes, the body tenses and so digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular and lymphatic systems are under duress.  Let’s face it- having tight muscles and soft tissue injuries (ligament, tendon, fascial) can be a real drag. Sleep might be interrupted, emotional and mental health change and that general feeling of well-being can seem out of reach.

I’m passionate about massage therapy because I’ve SEEN the changes that happen.  I have thousands of hands-on hours working with tissues to rehabilitate and relax them and I have experienced the benefits as a client who has been getting massage therapy for over a decade.

Start the rehabilitation process right inside the clinic door. Ask all the questions you want. That’s why we’re here. We love what we do and we’re passionate about education and communication. There’s a lot going on under your skin and we’re hoping to better your understanding of how muscles work and what they need to be healthy.

Jennifer McGill, RMT

IMG_3362I’m pleased to announce the addition of Jennifer McGill to the RMT team at Sarah Barton & Associates!  An active member of the CMTO in good standing since 2003, Jennifer is an advocate for massage therapy and it’s preventative and restorative value to overall health and wellness.  Jennifer has practiced in a variety of settings including spas, rehabilitation centres & multidisciplinary clinics.  Jennifer has vast treatment experience with a wide range of conditions giving her a well-rounded perspective on treatment planning.   Her focus is in line with us here at Sarah Barton & Associates in that she’s passionate about developing specific plans and course of care to suit individual needs.  We are, after all, in Jennifer’s words- ‘Partners in your health’!

Jennifer started her practice in her hometown of Peterborough ON after attending Sir Sandford Fleming College. Her primary treatment focus was sport injury and rehabilitation. She has also gained an appreciation for the art of the relaxation and ‘stress therapy’ massage at various spas around the Kawartha Lakes.

In addition to practicing massage therapy, Jennifer is very passionate about education and community involvement.  She believes the more you know about your health, the better decisions you can make.  This passion for education was directed toward her students of the massage therapy program at Trillium College in both the Peterborough and Oshawa campuses. While instructing the program, she ensured the students had experience with donating their time and knowledge to community events like Relay for Life and Nurses week.

“An important part of being a health care professional is going the extra mile for a healthy community”
